About Dr. Birch

Dr. BirchI earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  I am a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario completing a supervised practice experience to become a Registered Psychologist.  My services are supervised by Dr. Jett.

My clinical experience has been with adolescents, adults, and families.  I have worked in hospitals, treatment facilities, schools, prisons, and private practice settings.  I am skilled with administering a wide variety of assessment measures. I am also well-experienced with Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT-mindfulness), humanistic, and solution-focused approaches to treatment.  I am dedicated to a scientist-practitioner approach in providing treatments that have proven effectiveness.  With a passion for respecting clients’ strengths, and diverse walks of life, I count it a privilege to walk alongside others in their pursuit of improved wellness.

I have experience providing treatments for a wide variety of difficulties including the following: depression, anxiety, addiction, eating disorders, borderline personality disorder, self-harm/suicidal behaviours, posttraumatic stress, and anger. I have several first-author, peer-reviewed journal publications, book chapters, and academic presentations in the areas of addictions, eating disorders, and forensic psychology.

In my spare time I enjoy community volunteer work, swimming, biking, spoiling my pets, and relaxing with family and friends.
