Struggle is the cost of being human. We all experience challenges but we do not have to face them alone. I believe in the simple idea that talking helps. I offer a warm and supportive space where we work collaboratively at a pace that’s right for you. Together, we will unravel your story, learn from it, and take concrete steps toward healing and growth.
I am a newly licenced Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a 30-year professional background in health research administration, criminal law, and family mediation. I am also a mother and co-parent with personal and professional understanding of trauma and coping with major life transitions. I am available to work with adolescents, adults, and couples.
My practice engages psychodynamic approaches along with an eclectic range of modalities, including strength-based approaches, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT); dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), narrative, and emotionally focused therapy (EFT). I also draw from evidence based and trauma informed approaches, internal family systems, and grief theories, and nervous system regulation techniques.
I enjoy the simple pleasures of reading, hiking, dog-walking, and quality time with family and friends. I believe that spending time in nature offers healing opportunities through reflection, renewal, joy, and wonder.
Some of the services that Elissa provides at Jett Psychological Services are supervised by Dr. Steven Jett.
